Oriental Poppies
This painting is called Oriental Poppies and was painted by Georgia O'Keeffe in 1927. O'Keeffe's intention was, "Nobody takes time to see a flower, really, it is so small. We haven't time and to see takes time... So i said to myself: I'll paint what i see... What a the flower is to me - but I'll paint it big... I'll make even the busy New Yorkers take time to see what i see of flowers." This intense focus on the flower invites you to look at them in different way. Also because there is no stem or leaves this leave the viewer to just look at the flower and not as a plant.
