Nighthawks

This painting is called Nighthawks and was painted by Edward Hopper in 1942. Nighthawks are nocturnal birds, and a nickname for the people in this picture because they are out late at night. None of the people seem to be talking to each other which adds to a quiet look to the painting. There is also no visible entrance to the diner which makes the people feel remote to us, cut off by a wall of glass.
