This painting is called Relativity and was painted by Maurits Escher in 1953. This strange, dreamlike scene was designed like a kind of a puzzle. It seems so solid and lifelike - but people walking up and down the staircases are at impossible angles to each other. There are 3 different "worlds" in this painting, all going in different directions. All the figures in the painting lack faces which adds to the sense of mystery.
